We are not saying that all teenagers are reckless drivers but the years of statistics speak otherwise. This is why car insurance providers are unable to provide them cheap auto insurance rates. For those who are not aware, an auto insurance policy with teenage drivers can easily reach triple the amount than what it would normally cost. So what can you do as a parent? Well, aside from making sure you teach your kids to become responsible drivers there are other ways to offset your automobile insurance costs.

Enrolling everyone who drives the car to Defensive Driving schools, and a certification that they have completed Drivers Education courses will qualify you to receive discounts on your premiums. If your kids are getting good grades you could also get good student discounts. It would also cost less to add your teen under your existing policy than have them get their won.
